ON BUHARI'S SPEECH: The only thing I took from Buhari's speech is that the PRESIDENT is back-AKIOYAMEN JOSEPHINE.

"The speech was bland, non inspiring and non reassuring. Whosoever wrote that speech did a great disservice to Buhari. It is a rehash of themes Buhari always harp upon which are already stale and trite.

I wanted to hear something new and refreshing. I didn't get it from that speech. It was same 'ole, same 'ole. It is a pity really."

John Ewah said, "Why is Buhari that arrogant? He is just too arrogant for my liking. How could that be the speech of a president who has been absent from his job for over a hundred days!

I am not even saying that he should apologize to Nigerians for his absence which was clouded in obscurity and secrecy but that he should apologize for delivering this kind of speech which is so unfitting for even a president who has never missed a day in office let alone one who has been absent for over three months.

It calls for concern, how the President could reduce the brutality of herdsmen so far against innocent citizens to "...farmers versus herdsmen clashes" ! ... And that was all?

And if I am to do a semantic and context analysis of the text-phrase, by mentioning 'farmers' before 'herdsmen', attention and emphasis were shifted to the farmers as the first villains rather than the herdsmen who are the real and only villains.

Everything is wrong with that speech! The speech was bland, lacklustre and contextually annoying. It would have been better he never gave a speech. It was an insult to our collective sensitivity as a nation.

I hope that was not the president's speech because it is definitely going to meet with lots of criticisms and resistance from true thinking minds!'

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa wrote;

..........The president has not addressed the questions on the lips of all Nigerians, as to make full and frank disclosures, on the nature of his ailment, that took him out of Nigeria for 103 days, the state of his health presently, and the nature of his treatment, so as to engender hope in this regime and bring certainty to governance......

The greatest disappointment in the presidential broadcast is the act of buck passing, on the issue of restructuring, true federalism and devolution of powers, which were the main campaign slogans of the president, as encapsulated in the APC manifesto......

Lets have your say!
